A Sneak Peek at Next Week (Week of March 30 - April 3)

We will take our MAP math assessment on Thursday, April 2nd from 9:30-11. Please make sure your child is rested and has a good breakfast before coming to school. Also, a little morning pep talk with your child about taking their time and doing their best is much appreciated!!

Don't forget....
In preparation for our next STEM unit, Building an Animal Habitat, we are collecting shoe boxes and building materials. Each student will be a creating diorama that will represent the habitat for their animal. The students are researching facts and becoming experts on their animal during our writing time this week.

Every student will need a shoe box and any other materials that would be helpful in creating their habitat by Monday, March 30.  We will be doing the building at school. You can send your child's shoe box and building materials in a bag to school that is labeled with their name. We need 10 more shoeboxes.

We will have an egg hunt next Friday. I am asking that each child bring in 21 plastic eggs. Please fill each egg with a piece of wrapped candy {no chocolate-it melts} or prize {erasers, stickers, bouncy balls, etc}. It would be very helpful to have the eggs taped shut....it's no fun to find an egg with a missing prize! Also, please number the eggs 1-20 with a Sharpie marker. Students will hunt for their number during the egg hunt!

Please send the eggs by Wednesday, April 1st and a basket/bag on Friday. Thanks for always helping us make fun first grade memories!

Upcoming STEM Project

In preparation for our next STEM unit: Building an Animal Habitat we are collecting shoe boxes and building materials. Each student will be a creating diorama (at school) that will represent the habitat for their animal. The students will research facts and become experts on their animal during our writing time.

Challenge: You have recently been hired to be the new zoologist at Memorial Park Zoo. New animals are on their way! It is your job to create a diorama model of what the animal's habitat will look like before the builders get to work creating the actual space. Remember animals depend on their habitat to meet their basic needs. Are you up for the challenge?

Every student will need a shoe box and any other materials that would be helpful in creating their habitat by Monday, March 30. You can send your child's shoe box and building materials in a bag to school that is labeled with their name. We will do the constructing at school.
