A Sneak Peak at Next Week!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

 

Next week is packed with holiday fun for RBES first graders! We are so excited!!

Polar Express Day- Thursday, Dec. 18th

Your child may bring small blanket, stuffed animal, and their favorite books. All items must fit in their book bag. Please label all belongings with your child's name.
 

Project Based Learning - Dec. 15 - 19

Our schedule will be different this week due to our Project Based Learning/STEM project! First grade will turn into Santa's Workshop! Your child will create a game, as well as make trail mix for ESP and St. Mary's assisted living residents! Thank you for all of your donations to make these activities possible!

**Due to the schedule change, our lunchtime will be from  
11:40-12:10 (Mon.- Thurs.) and 12:55-1:25, (Friday)!!**

Holiday Class Party


Our class party will be on Dec. 19th from 1:30 - 2:20. 
Please send in a wrapped, gender neutral, gently used or new children's book of your choice  by Monday, Dec. 15.

Info about attending the party if you are not an approved volunteer from Mrs. Wages: If someone has not attended the volunteer training, they may visit at lunch or at a party, but they are only here to visit their child.  They should not sit with other children, take photos/videos of other children, etc....  They should sign in as a visitor rather than a volunteer.  They need to sit separate from the class with their child and engage in conversation with their child only.

We are packed with a busy schedule for this month, but will focus on learning and building good memories. There are many things we need help with, so I will go ahead and list them all at once. Please see the list of items we need below and let me know which item and how many you can send. Any donation would be greatly appreciated!

Gingerbread House: White Icing (3 containers), Toppings (see below)   - by Wednesday, December 10th

Toppings:  M&Ms (regular and mini)

                sprinkles

* We will make our gingerbread houses on 12/12. The leftovers will be used for cookie decorating during our holiday party!

Trail Mix: The first graders are making trail mix for ESP's Christmas event and other children around us as a project based learning activity. Our class is responsible for collecting 15 bags of marshmellows.     

Christmas book exchange - Please send in a wrapped, gender neutral, gently used or new children's book of your choice  by Monday, Dec. 15. We will exchange books during our holiday party on Fri., Dec. 19.

Holiday Party: If you're an approved RBES volunteer, you are invited to attend our Holiday Party on December 19 from 1:30 - 2:20. If you would like to become an approved RBES volunteer , please attend the training on December 10th at 9:00 a.m.

MAP Assessments will occur after the holidays.  Our class will take the MAP Reading assessment Tuesday, December 2 from 1:15-2:15.  We will take the MAP Math assessment Friday, December 5 from 8-9:30.  Please make sure that your child is well rested and eats a good breakfast!

*The students may feel more comfortable with the MAP if they have some practice answering questions on a computer. Below is a link to some MAP practice websites!
