Learning Objectives
- Reading: The students will practice making text to self, text to text, and text to world connections to the stories they read.
- Writing: Students will engage in procedural "How to" writing. Through their writing they will teach their readers how to do something they are experts at. We will continue to work on writing sentences with capital letters, spaces between words, and ending marks. We are also working on writing "juicy" sentences with adjectives, metaphors, and quotation marks.
- Math: We will begin Unit 7. We will introduce students to doubles (6 + 6= 12) and halves (12-6 =6). We will be learning how to use doubles and halves to solve story problems.
- Science:We will discuss the animal needs, physical characteristics, and how they can be classified according to a variety of characteristics.
- Character: Zones of Regulation (The Zones of Regulation is a program designed to help students gain skills in consciously regulating their emotions and actions.) We will hold class meetings and work on finding positive and logical solutions to common classroom problems.
