Learning Objectives
- Reading: The students will practice asking and answering questions while reading fiction and nonfiction texts.
- Writing: Students will engage in procedural "How to" writing. Through their writing they will teach their readers how to do something they are experts at. We will continue to work on writing sentences with capital letters, spaces between words, and ending marks. We are also working on writing "juicy" sentences with adjectives, metaphors, and quotation marks.
- Math: We will begin working with fractions. Students will understand that fractions split an object into equal parts and we can find the fractional part by determining how much is shaded, taken away, etc. students will learn to identify and write fractions.
- Science:We will discuss the animal needs, physical characteristics, and how they can be classified according to a variety of characteristics (mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, and insects).
- Character: Zones of Regulation (The Zones of Regulation is a program designed to help students gain skills in consciously regulating their emotions and actions.) We will hold class meetings and work on finding positive and logical solutions to common classroom problems.
