Here’s a Sneak Peek at Next Week:
Learning Objectives
- Reading: We will be reading fictional stories and identifying story elements (characters, setting, plot, problem, solution).
- Writing: We will research facts about turkey and engage in informational writing about turkeys. We are working on writing sentences with capital letters, spaces between words, and ending marks. I encourage students to be fearless spellers. This means they sound out unknown words or look to the Word Wall for assistance.
- Math: We will continue discussing place value. Students will learn about tens and ones within numbers, how to add ten, and how teen numbers are made up of 1 ten and extra ones.
- Science: Students will learn about matter. They will investigate to understand how common materials interact with water. Key concepts include how some liquids mix, things dissolve, and others separate.
- Character: Anti-Bullying lessons
1.) Turkey Disguise is due Friday, Nov. 17th (so we have time to share and write about our disguises in class)
2.) Have your child read the leveled books that are sent home (please return these the NEXT day because we need them for our reading group)
3.) Review word study list

Next week the students will engage in a STEM challenge. Here is the problem:
The year is 1620. The Pilgrims plan on sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in order to come to America. You have been hired to design a model of the ship The Mayflower! Your challenge is to build a model ship that float across the water powered only by wind.
Good luck!
