Learning Objectives
- Reading: The students will identify the main idea of the text they read. Students will also describe the supporting details.
- Writing: Students will engage in opinion writing. They will write about which animal makes the best pet. Students will give reasons and examples to support their opinion. We will continue to work on writing sentences with capital letters, spaces between words, and ending marks. We are also working on writing "juicy" sentences with adjectives, metaphors, and quotation marks.
- Math: We will discuss how to transfer information presented in a graph to a table. We will also learn how to solve story problems using comparison. Then, we will move into measurement with inches.
- Social Studies: We finish our Geography unit. We will discuss how where you live affects the clothes you war, the animals you see, and the land around you. We will focus on farmland, polar regions, rain forests, islands, and deserts.
- Character: Zones of Regulation (The Zones of Regulation is a program designed to help students gain skills in consciously regulating their emotions and actions.) We will hold class meetings and work on finding positive and logical solutions to common classroom problems.
