Upcoming Events for April 3rd-6th

Learning Objectives






  • Reading: We will read and discuss elements of poetry.
  • Writing: Students will research facts about an animal of their choice. They will write an informational book about their animal. We will continue to work on writing sentences with capital letters, spaces between words, and ending marks. We are also working on writing "juicy" sentences with adjectives, metaphors, and quotation marks. 
  • Math: We will be wrapping Unit 7 with learning about telling time to the hour and half hour. Please review your child's homework to ensure that they are understanding how to tell time.
  • Science:We will begin an animal unit (knowing animal needs, wild vs. domestic animals). We will move into our plant unit. 
  • Character:  Zones of Regulation (The Zones of Regulation is a program designed to help students gain skills in consciously regulating their emotions and actions.) We will hold class meetings and work on finding positive and logical solutions to common classroom problems.




1.) Math workbook pages (any not completed in Unit 7)
2.) Practice sight words (4th Nine weeks list or higher!)
3.) Leveled Reading books (read and return each day!)

Upcoming Events for March 26th- March 29th

Learning Objectives






  • Reading: The students will practice asking and answering questions while reading fiction and nonfiction texts.
  • Writing: Students will engage in procedural "How to" writing. Through their writing they will teach their readers how to do something they are experts at. We will continue to work on writing sentences with capital letters, spaces between words, and ending marks. We are also working on writing "juicy" sentences with adjectives, metaphors, and quotation marks. 
  • Math: We will begin working with fractions. Students will understand that fractions split an object into equal parts and we can find the fractional part by determining how much is shaded, taken away, etc. students will learn to identify and write fractions.
  • Science:We will discuss the animal needs, physical characteristics, and how they can be classified according to a variety of characteristics (mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, and insects). 
  • Character:  Zones of Regulation (The Zones of Regulation is a program designed to help students gain skills in consciously regulating their emotions and actions.) We will hold class meetings and work on finding positive and logical solutions to common classroom problems.

Upcoming Events for March 19th-23rd

Learning Objectives






  • Reading: The students will practice making text to self, text to text, and text to world connections to the stories they read.
  • Writing: Students will engage in procedural "How to" writing. Through their writing they will teach their readers how to do something they are experts at. We will continue to work on writing sentences with capital letters, spaces between words, and ending marks. We are also working on writing "juicy" sentences with adjectives, metaphors, and quotation marks. 
  • Math: We will begin Unit 7. We will introduce students to doubles (6 + 6= 12) and halves (12-6 =6). We will be learning how to use doubles and halves to solve story problems. 
  • Science:We will learn characteristics of different geographic regions (desert, rain forest, arctic, farmland, ocean). 
  • Character:  Zones of Regulation (The Zones of Regulation is a program designed to help students gain skills in consciously regulating their emotions and actions.) We will hold class meetings and work on finding positive and logical solutions to common classroom problems.
