Learning Objectives
- Reading: We will work on identifying and describing the purpose of nonfiction text features. (Table of Contents, index, glossary, bold print, charts, diagram, labels, captions, etc.)
- Writing: We will research facts about penguins. Students will engage in informational writing about penguins. We will continue to work on writing sentences with capital letters, spaces between words, and ending marks.
- Math: We will be learning about the partners of 100 and making connections with the value of one dollar. We will be working with missing addend problems and utilizing different strategies to solve.
- Social Studies: This week we will continue our unit discussing famous American symbols and figures: the bald eagle, the American flag, the Statue of Liberty, The Liberty Bell, and the Washington Monument.
- Character: Zones of Regulation (The Zones of Regulation is a program designed to help students gain skills in consciously regulating their emotions and actions.)

Classroom News
Valentine’s Day Party
On Tuesday, February 14th, we will be having a Valentine’s Day Celebration from 1:30-2:30 PM. A class list will be sent home in students' Daily Folders. I would like for the students to “address” their Valentine’s themselves. (Students will be making a Valentine’s carrying bag at school. You do not need to prepare a Valentine’s Day box.)
We are also asking for food donations for the snack table. There are 19 students total. I will send you a confirmation note with which item to send in.

- One School, One book Celebration, Thursday February 2nd at 6L15 PM. Please join us at AES to participate in fun activities that are themed around the Gooseberry Park book!
- Early Release, February 8th (Car riders 1:05, buses 1:15)
