Learning Objectives
- Reading: What does it mean to be a reader? We will be listening to and responding to narrative stories about starting a new school year.
- Writing: What does it mean to be a writer? We will introduce a writer's tools. We will reflect on our First Day Jitters, Summer Memories, and All About Me.
- Math:What does it mean to be a mathematician? We will review calendar concepts, money, and counting skills from Kindergarten. We will take a Pre-Assessment for our first math unit to find out how much we already know and what we need to learn.
- Social Studies: What does it mean to be part of a community? We will discuss and participate in role play activities in order to learn school/classroom guidelines and procedures. We will work on building a classroom community.
- Character: How can I be an Auburn Star? We will discuss how at Auburn we practice the following:
- Safety and Self Space
- Taking Responsibility
- Acting Kindly
- Respecting Self, Others, and Property
- Showing Good Citizenship
1.) All About Me Bag (Please send in on Tuesday or Wednesday (8/9-8/10)
2.) My Special Name (Going home on Tuesday, please send back on Wed., 8/10)
3.) READ at least 20 minutes every night!
