Spelling words: bring, thing, think, sent, find, your, said, who, use, about.
Phonics- Ending blends
Reading: Daily 5 implementation with emphasis on asking and answering questions about details in texts. What was the main idea? How can I retell the story?(5 finger retell) What is the author's purpose?(PIE)
L.Arts: Sentence level context clues for meanings of words and phrases. Understand and use conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, yet)
Writing Workshop: Finished up and celebrated personal narratives. Introduce informational booklets. ( teaching book)
Math: Numeration:Place Value(Patterns within 100) Making ten bundles,+1 and -1, +10 and -10, what comes before and after a certain number? We will continue to show to make a number with base ten blocks, distinguish numbers as tens and ones and represent numbers with tallies. We will also continue to explore the importance of organizing our data in a chart/graph that can be easily read by others.
Social Studies: STEM Activity: In honor of Columbus day students will build a boat with supplies provided that will sail across the "ocean" carrying 5 small objects.

We will begin a new STEAM challenge next week. It is about Christopher Columbus sailing the ocean blue. The challenge will be to create a boat using only the materials provided that will carry 5 objects across the "ocean". Our "ocean" will be a Rubbermaid tub of water and our wind will be a fan. Thank you for checking the list of needed items to see if you have any of those items to share with us. We are SOOOOOO excited!!! :)

Changes in Transportation

Volunteer Training
Georgia law regarding volunteers in non-profit organizations establishes that all volunteers are now mandated reporters. In order for all volunteers to understand the law and know the reporting protocols, volunteer training regarding the new mandated reporter law will be provided. Below is the last date for the RBES volunteer training. If you plan to volunteer or visit in a classroom (this includes attending class parties, field day, working with students, etc.) you should attend one of the dates below.
Wednesday, November 4th at 9:00 am
We will need ALL volunteers to attend one of the training options in order for everyone to be able to continue to serve as a volunteer. Please know we appreciate you, your time, and commitment to RBES.
Snack Reminders
-Please send a healthy snack {low in sugar} to school with your child every day.
-Due to having 5 minutes for snack time, please send in only one snack.
